Happy International Labour Day

       International Workers' Day, also known as Labor Day, is celebrated on May 1st. It originated in the 1880s to commemorate the Haymarket affair in Chicago and to fight for workers' rights. Since then, Labor Day has become an important holiday to recognize workers' contributions and advocate labor rights worldwide.

       On May 1st, 1886, hundreds of thousands of workers in the United States went on strike to campaign for an 8-hour working day. Three days later, a bomb exploded at a labor rally in Chicago's Haymarket Square. The rally turned violent, resulting in deaths and injuries.

      Although the bombers were never identified, four anarchists were convicted and executed for the bombing. The Haymarket affair outraged workers and turned May 1st into a day of remembrance and protest for labor rights.

      Over the years, May Day spread widely around the world. It is now officially recognized as an international workers' holiday in 80 countries to promote fair working conditions and workers' well-being.

  Various activities are held on Labor Day, such as speeches, rallies, and marches. People also organize picnics, barbecues, and more lighthearted community events.

      To commemorate Labor Day, here are some suggestions for activities: organize a picnic for families and friends, learn about the labor laws and workers' rights in your country, donate or volunteer to support worker advocacy groups, or simply take a walk outside and appreciate the fruits of workers' hard work all around us.
